Biography
Will Peak is the owner and lead technician of Peak Performance Woodwinds, a specialty woodwind shop located in Kansas City, Missouri. Peak Performance Woodwinds (PPW) is devoted to providing artisan-level woodwind services, including general repairs, customization, overhauls, and instrument sales to students, professionals, and everyone in-between. Will also designs and produces original products which are being used by musicians around the world.
Will is routinely sought out by professional saxophonists, oboists, and clarinetists for his meticulous work. His most discerning clients include local professional symphony musicians of the Kansas City and St. Louis Symphonies among others; students and faculty from area colleges; military band members; and some of the most active players in Kansas City’s jazz and live music scenes. Will is also honored to be entrusted with instruments belonging to players across the country. who ship him their instruments and/or travel to visit PPW. In his craft, Will values continued improvement and innovation, extending beyond the basic repair of these instruments to improve all aspects of the playing experience for his clients. Additionally, Will’s expertise is grounded in his background as a musician. Will honed his skills in repair and music performance simultaneously during his time at the UMKC Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Zach Shemon and earned a BM in saxophone performance. During his time at UMKC, Will also studied clarinet with Dr. Jane Carl; played in the jazz bands under the direction of Bobby Watson and Dan Thomas; and played clarinet and saxophone in the conservatory wind ensembles under the direction of Joe Parisi and Steven Davis. Will continues to refine his sensitivity from a player’s perspective on the oboe, flute, and bassoon, as he believes this to be a foundational ingredient to his success.

Will began learning musical instrument repair as a high schooler in the summer of 2011 after meeting woodwind repair technician Judi Dietz. He was fortunate to spend many cumulative hours assisting and learning at Judi’s Woodwind Shop from 2011-2013. Judi’s mentorship and passion for the craft ignited an obsessive spark in Will which remains with him to this day. Will seeks to inspire a similar passion for the craft in others through PPW, as he trains other technicians, shares ideas with other technicians around the world, and educates woodwind musicians.
